Nobody seems to scoff at dropping $1000 on a laptop, $400 on their phone, and $1000/year on there data and internet. Additionally, the population that utilizes the interent and, therefore, see all the ads posted on those websites is, well, EVERYONE. But we don't and can't afford $1000 to fly across the country. I'm sure there's a rebutle, but do the math and figure out what the operating costs of an airline vs that of Twitter (before wages) and the figure out what the gross annual income is and I bet you'll find its a much narrower margin. I'm not saying that paying pilots less is right. I'm saying that what people are willing to spend money on is dictating, or contributing to, the way companies operate based on overhead etc...
