I'm certainly a bit late to be commenting here, but Privet needs to be removed from the old growth forest of Overton Park because it IS INVASIVE and chokes out native understory plants. Poison Ivy is NOT INVASIVE as this article mentions. It may be undesirable, but it is part of the native plant community. There are even Poison Ivy vines in Overton Park that might be labeled as "old growth" that are nearly six inches in diameter. Remove the Privet... leave the Ivy.
