Re: “Bumps in the Night

I visited Magnolia Manor with a friend of mine while visiting the Shiloh battlefield. We were there in the summer of 2006. We ended up leaving at about 5am after staying in the 1849 room (the "passing room") when we were awakened by someone slowly walking up the stairs and standing outside the door of our room (we could see the silhouette/shadow of two feet under the door). We were the only guests that night, and once we heard the heavy footsteps around 4am, we both jumped up and ran to the door. We slung it open and rushed out in the hall, and there was no one there at all. The light was on in the hall, but the hall and the stairs were empty. After about 30 seconds of shock, we ran back in the room, tried to explain away what we just saw - couldn't, so we packed our bags and ran out to the car in the pre-dawn darkness.
I felt horrible about being rude to our host, but even if I did want to stay for breakfast, my friend was going to leave without me due to fright.
I don't care if you believe or not, but I know what we experienced. It's real.
