Latest Review

We ate at Pizza Stone on Friday July 10, 2009. Before I detail the disaster-that-was our dining experience, I want to preface this by saying that we arrived with excited expectations based on recent positive reviews from friends. There were 3 of us and our feelings about the restaurant were the same. Please note that despite all the following problems, we remained a pleasant, easy-to-deal with table and did not act in a manner that may have provoked additional problems.

Things started off on the wrong foot as our impatient waitress seemed annoyed by our water orders after learning that they are still in the process of obtaining their beer license. When asked about a corkage fee (they allow outside wine), she seemed confused (no corkage fee, but $3 per person for a glass).

We place our dinner order, pizza, calazone and pasta. Our waitress literally made a face and sighed when asked about substituting toppings for the pizza and calazone (1 each, it wasn't like we were trying to create a new dish). She said she wasn't sure if it was possible and would let us know if there were problems.

15 minutes later. She brings out the pasta dish for our friend and walks away. No pizza. No calazone. Just as we tell our friend to start eating, the waitress comes back and says

"sorry I made a mistake, this isn't your dish"

And picks it up and walks off to serve it to the other customer. Unbelievable.

Finally dinner arrives. We dig in.

Pizza cold.

Calazone...substitution was not made, nor had she come back to tell me she couldn't make it happen. Nevermind the fact that I had more olive PITS than olives in my calazone. Unreal.

The dipping could do better with stuff from a can.

Bill time.

Extra charge for substitutions on the pizza that weren't mentioned by the waitress or in the menu. Prior notice would have made it a non-issue.

Everytime our waitress came to the table, she seem impatient and dismissive. This held true even when we had to call her back to borrow a pen to sign the check.

In summary, the food was ok and the service was so bad that I'm surprised our dinner wasn't apart of a skit on candid camera or punked.

We will definitely NOT be going back to the Pizza Stone--unfortunate due to its great neighborhood location and good atmosphere.
