Re: “The Battle of Memphis — Confederate Statues' Last Stand?

Black Lives Matter; aren't those the hate-mongers who marched down the streets of cities and towns of America calling for the murder of police officers?! I believe 8 cops were murdered right off the bat by Black Americans and they're any different then the KKK how??? People who believe in what BLM preaches are no better then the very despicable Nathan Bedford Forrest. The writer keeps talking about the white guy who went into a church and took the lives of good people...black people. White guys went into schools, night clubs and movie theatres and slaughtered good people....white people mostly. News flash politically correct approval seeker; around 94% of murdered blacks in America are killed by other blacks and by the way, BLM never says anything about the roughly 7000 of its own that are self-inflicted. 80% of whites are killed by other whites. These are all crimes of hate/greed, not the systemic racism progressive liberals would have you believe. Crap happens to all cultures. ALL of them!

Here's a quick history lesson for her too. For centuries black Muslims of North Africa raided tribes in many countries of Africa; killing, raping and capturing men, women and children for their own usage and for sale into slavery. They controlled the slave trade. You can blame the street thugs all you want for selling your kids drugs, but the growers are just as guilty as the importers and distributors. Just so Ms. Sawyer can't be termed a hypocrite, she might want to wage a protest against Islam. NBF and his ilk can best be described as the Bloods and Crips of his time. If you want to put it into context, albeit slave trading wasn't illegal at first. Not until after the Civil War in the South.

The Civil War did not start out as a Slavery issue, it just evolved into it. What was done to the black (not to be confused with the White Irish) slaves was, of course, reprehensible and the KKK was the despicable racists who perpetuated murders of many innocent people. And that is just a small sample of America's embarrassing history. See genocide of American Indians as the biggest disgrace. Take down any and all statues of American Presidents who ordered/didn't prevent Massacres like Wounded Knee. Stop celebrating George Armstrong Custer, who was a lowlife racist against Indigenous peoples, along with that murdering cowards Col. Clevington (sp) and Forsyth et al. You get my point.

Another quick history lesson would suggest that there isn't a culture anywhere in the world that hasn't been enslaved at some point in history. Again, the Ottoman Empire and Roman Empire did it to great extents and for longer periods of time. What is the difference between the Romans, Nazi's, Soviets, Muslims, Vikings, Huns etc, etc.? Nothing really, they were all plundering civilizations (there's a misnomer) who mass murdered, raped, stole and destroyed. Stalin killed more then Hitler and who knows how many the Romans slayed over their reign of tyranny. Boko Haram have killed and enslaved more Blacks then the KKK. Protest them, at least they are modern murderers/rapists/thieves.

History is what it is in the context of its time. The Yanks and Rebs are both guilty of war crimes. The Southerner's wanted their own country and they fought for it. They had their war heroes, that's their history, let them have it and stop instigating trouble that need not happen. America was created by a War of Independence and you all celebrate those leaders who kicked out the British. The difference being you won. Had you lost and were still a British Colony, I'm sure George Washington and the like would still be celebrated as champions of the people. No difference in the context of their time.

One of my most favorite people; Morgan Freeman states "If you want to stop racism, just stop talking about it." That very intelligent man out of Memphis; Martin Luther King Jr. had a dream that one day man would be judged not by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character. And that is the only way it should be! So when is everyone going to take this man's advice or did he die for nothing!

Oh and before I forget, I would take down the statue of Nathan Bedford Forrest. Although leaving it there for the birds to defecate on would be a pleasing thought also.

Re: “PCL Championship: Memphis vs. El Paso

Don't mean to burst your bubble, but Tommy Edman started the season in Peoria with 155ABs in 38 games before being promoted to Palm Beach, where he only played in 17 games. An injury to Edmundo Sosa necessitated his promotion to Springfield, where he finished the year with 63 more regular season games. The call to Memphis came only because of the departures of Mejia and Valera to St. Louis. So to say he split the season between PB and Spr is inaccurate.
