Re: “Moving Forward?

For many of us in this city, MATA offers no service at all. I am one of the few, the proud, the graveyard shift workers. My shift starts at 2 AM. If I didn't have a car to drive to work, I would have two options: pay about $25 for a taxi ride one way or leave my house at 6:30 PM, get to the closest bus stop around 8 PM, walk close to a mile to my place of employment, then sit in the break room until time to start! For the short time that we were without a car back in November, my husband decided it was quicker to ride his bicycle to FedEx. Keep in mind that it's only 6 miles from home to the Hub, and just under 10 miles from my house to work. The bus system really needs some major changes to be effective in this city.

Re: “Easy Come Easy Go; My Easy Way is Gone

I love Easy Way! I stop there on my way to Schnucks or Kroger over here in East Memphis, finding that I can fill a large bag full of produce for my family for far less than what I would spend in either of the chain stores. I went there with my grandmother when I was a child, and I will continue to support them and other local businesses throughout my lifetime!
