Re: “Commercial Appeal Editor Louis Graham Resigns

Gannett is the worst thing to happen to the Commercial Appeal and to the way local news is reported by a news source.

Re: “Riverside Drive to Potentially be Repaved, Bike Lanes

The old "cars are the enemy" argument doesn't hold any weight. Just like cities are here to stay, so are cars.

In a city like Memphis where public transportation isn't up to par, cars are needed.

Electric cars are being built and if more people would purchase them, then the "clouds of nasty smoke" goes away because electric cars are environmentally friendly.

Like a previous commenter wrote, ServiceMaster and other businesses and construction projects are in the future works, that could affect this Riverside Drive plan. Maybe the city should study this project a little more, to take into account of future growth?

If more millennials are moving downtown, believe me they aren't all just riding bikes. I see more young adults driving the smaller environmentally safe cars than I see them trekking downtown on a bicycle.

Re: “Three (Quick) Thoughts on the Lawsons' Exodus

Couldn't agree with you more, Joseph Russell.

I want Coach Smith to succeed because I love watching the Tigers play deep into March.
But I know that this job is on a level above the likes of Texas Tech, Minnesota, Tulsa, or Georgia.

I know Memphis isn't on Kentucky's level but they certainly pay the coaches like they are and the fans expect nothing less.

So expectations are overly high but the boosters pay coaches enough to strive to meet those high standards.

And I like Coach Tubby Smith and want him to succeed. But Memphis isn't Minnesota, it isn't Texas Tech, the Tigers and its fan base thrives on big name players taking the team deep into the tournament. If you don't know that, you are not a true blue Tiger basketball fan!

Re: “Three (Quick) Thoughts on the Lawsons' Exodus

"but if he had the talent Calipari recruits he would have 2 or 4 national titles." Then why hasn't Tubby recruited that talent in order to win 2 or 4 national titles? Mike does it at Duke, Roy does it at UNC, why can't Tubby do this?
