Re: “New Law Loosens Drug Possession Penalties

I'm a senior in high school and I was arrested in Elizabethton this previous summer due to a half ounce that I had in my backpack...I pleaded guilty and are currently dealing with the drama of that right now...after the summer I quit smoking weed for probation and to keep myself out of trouble...I drove to school one morning and went to class like normal and they had drug dogs sniffing the cars at school...I get a call for my keys to be given to the principal because the drug dogs had hit on my car...I use to smoke in my car so I thought that was the reason...I had nothing illegal within the car which is what I told them. Police then searched my car to find a piece of shake. This piece was under .1 and could not be weighed on a scale...I personally would compare the size to an ant in width and length...I now have another charge of possesion and was expelled for education is being hurt really badly and is causing problems within my family..arguements and fights..if Marijuana was currently legalized then these issues wouldn't be so detramental to me...I'm 17 soon to be 18 and believe that with my constant alert ADHD and ADD that I am more clam and productive when I smoke...even though I'm a minor which is very controversial for everyone but my education would be a lot better, I wouldn't have as many family issues, and my record would look a lot better overall and I wouldn't be pinned as a "criminal" in my city...I really hope that legalization will be brought soon to Tennessee so that other people aren't so highly affected in a negative way just because they like to smoke weed every now and then...
