Re: “A Son's Lament

George, I was playing around online trying to remember the names of all Jiddo's siblings and I saw this. I don't know if I ever told you (but maybe I did) about the dream I had a few months after his funeral. We were all at 411 and I became really crazed to find something that I had lost but couldn't remember what. And I enlisted Michelle to rip apart the house with me on this hunt for this really valuable important thing that I had lost and meanwhile you and Grandma and dad and Joanne and Marie kept getting really frustrated with me, telling me that during a time like this you didn't care what I'd lost and to pipe down. (In the dream you were all planning the funeral) Finally after ripping apart the entire house from the laundry room to every single bedroom over and over I walked into his old room and suddenly realized that I had found what was lost. There was a chest at the end of the bed and in the dream I just instinctively knew I had found whatever it was that I'd lost and I started yelling to Michelle "This is it! This is what I lost!" and she was staring at me like "You lost a trunk? What's so special about that?" and I ran over to the trunk and ripped it open sure that whatever I was looking for was inside. As I opened it this bright white light came out and filled the room and I knew that somehow it was Jiddo saying hello or telling me that everything was fine and safe and happy and in a better place. And then I woke up. I know that he was my grandfather and the loss factor is not the same. But this dream is always what I carry with me and think of when I miss him the most.
